Frequently asked questions

How old does my child need to be to join?
The Navy League Cadet Corps (NLCC) is for ages 10 to 13, and the Naval Sea Cadet Corps (NSCC) runs from 13 through high school graduation. Thirteen falls in both, so if you're unsure which fits, just mention your cadet's age in your message and we'll guide you.
When and where do you meet?
The division holds monthly weekend drills at the Naval & Military Park on the Buffalo waterfront. We do not publish a standing calendar of dates or the exact reporting point, so contact us and we will send you both.
What does it cost to participate?
Cadets pay annual dues, and there are costs for uniforms (sea bags) and meals at drills. Every figure is itemised on our Store page, and all of it can be paid there in one secure checkout.
How do I officially enroll?
Enrollment is handled through the national program, but start on our Join page: it walks you through what to expect and hands you off with The Sullivans Division already named, so your request reaches us and not another unit.
Do I need military experience to volunteer?
No. Adult volunteers come from all backgrounds. If you'd like to support the division as an instructor, officer, or helper, mention it in your message, we'd love to hear from you.
